Doflamingo.
- How I feel about this character
definitely my favourite villain of the whole manga. he is a particularly complex character and that’s why i like him so much. he’s much more opaque than any other character with his feelings. everybody can easily see the amoral, brutal, implacable and demonic part of him, but little are able to see through the stitch of that evil/charismatic guy suit he wears. i could go on and on with this, so i will stop here.
- All the people I ship romantically with this character
there are few or none i can bring myself to ship romantically with doflamingo in canon. he can be shipped with many in different alternate universes, but in the canon storyline, and as an unmarried king, i just see him not willing to complicate his life with a relationship. whenever he seeks affection or a bit of fun he can have those with his harem.
- My non-romantic OTP for this character
sugar, monet, vergo, rocinante.. those four basically. i can see him having a bromance with diamante, as him getting wonderfully along and creating strong bonds with all the people in his crew, but those four i’ve mentioned are the ones that have the biggest potential for, well, anything.
- My unpopular opinion about this character
he is such a popular character that there is not an unpopular opinion about him anymore. there’s people that loves him for he is manipulative and cruel and other people that despises him for it, so
- One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
i know he is going to get defeated, as any other villain in this show, but i do hope we get to see more of him, and that it’s law the one defeating him, not luffy, for this is a battle law has to win.
Rocinante.
- How I feel about this character
i could probably write a dissertation about how i feel about rocinante, psychoanalizing him to the bone, but im trying to keep it short with all this. i both like him and dislike him. i like how he’s nothing and everything, how being nothing he tries to make a difference, how he fails miserably yet he inspires law to continue his life’s goal.
i’ll say that for me donquixote rocinante tries to make the difference being doflamigo’s anthitesis, yet they are similar in some aspects. being crude i could say both of them are goals-that-justify-means characters, but they are much more complicated than that.
- All the people I ship romantically with this character
no one.
- My non-romantic OTP for this character
doflamingo, law. hell, even sengoku.
- My unpopular opinion about this character
i think it’s a great mistake to simply clasify him as good. if oda is a pro at something is at making his characters complicated, they are not entirely good nor inherently bad. he makes you hate a character but then he draws the background story and you realize that, while it doesn’t fully justify the evil, you can understand why that certain character is like that nowadays. i.e. señor pink.
- One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
i wish we had seen more about him, especially from doflamingo’s point of view, or from the point of view of someone that’s gonna be less biased than doflamingo and law.
