Continuation from [X]

She of course, hadn’t completely ditched the area, she’d watched, from across the courtyard on a rooftop just about level with the window, just to see if her choice in wine had been accurate. She’d asked a few people, having neglected to pay much attention to the shichibukai after the whole… personal dancer creep fest thing, she didn’t know much about him. In fact she’d made it an effort to avoid him.

But it was Dressrosa, the whole island celebrated the day, a city of love and well… she sort of felt bad that he had no one to spend it with, even she had received random gifts, some even from men she’d never met, so she’d made an effort to find out his favourite wine and get it for him.

And his reaction… while it started out promising, not quite what she’d been hoping for. Sweet Oda he was such a pain in the ass. Going in now would be pointless, he wouldn’t want anyone to see him like that, she’d wait until later to visit him again, two visits in one day, actual record.

But that’s how she found herself a couple of hours later, outside his study, knocking on the door, a box of chocolate liqueurs in her hand which some random guy in town had gotten her.

Ah the key to any fiesty womans heart, alcoholic chocolate.

He had finished the wine, and even if it was the one of the sweetest wines he had ever tried it still felt bitter in his tongue. It was a wine full of memories, painful ones mostly. Memories of Roci and him and that one day in which, after so many years, he came back and Doffy thought it was because he wanted to be with his brother, but he had done so to betray him and to turn him in.. or worse. That had been the wine of each one of the family celebrations, and Roci had raised his glass just like everyone else.. and all that time he had been lying, just waiting for the proper moment to stab him in the back.

And he did, of course he did. For some reason the fact that he had shot him to death didn’t bring him any peace, for he had questions that now would never get an answer. Had he been such a bad brother? Had he really deserved all that hate? Why didn’t Roci just talk to him? But it was probably better not to know the answers to those questions.

The insistent knocking in the door annoyed him, but it was enough for him to push the unwanted thoughts out of his mind. He knew who it was, and he was surprised she was still around. Didn’t she have any other stuff to do? It was Valentine’s day and she was pretty, she should have a ridiculous amount of men trying their best to get her attention.

Opening the door and raising a brow once the chocolate liquor smell reached his nose. Tipsy and there? Bad combination, but he could only ask the obvious.
